Champaign - Another spontaneous change of plan. Madhu has not been to Chicago - so we decided to go to Chicago for a day, as it's only two and half hours away!
We parked at the Cumberland Metro (subway) station and took two day passes for the subway. Off we went on the blue line to downtown Chicago. First stop was the Willis (Sears) Tower. We had heard horror stories of three hour wait's for the tickets and elevator - we practically walked in, bought tickets and were on the elevator to the SkyDeck in less than 10 minutes. Most of the time was spent in walking to the elevator from the ticket counter. 104 floors up on the SkyDeck - the only wait was to get onto the Ledge to take pictures. About a 15 minute wait. Not bad at all.
Pictures taken, we come back down for a coffee and muffin (power lunch) at Starbucks on the first floor, before catching the pink line to the Millennium Park. Nice walk around the park looking at various views of downtown Chicago, and then a quick walk to the Blue Line subway station to catch a ride back to Cumberland station.
Dinner at a dear friend's place (Azam from Muscat days) - and we had a treat of Mutton biryani, Chicken and Qurbani ka Meetha, before heading back to the hotel for the night.
Day stats: approx 150 miles
