Kanab - Literally just across the Arizona border. Quaint town - Old Wild West influence. Lot of Hollywood movies, mainly westerns, were filmed here - we stayed at a Hollywood themed place. One of the oldest in town - with lots of Hollywood memorabilia - they claim the actors used to stay here when those western's were made.. They have a couple of Hollywood halls of fame with autographed photographs of the actors of yesteryear westerns.
Only thing on the agenda today - Zion National Park. About fifty five miles away via US89 North and UT9 West. Highlight of the drive is a 1.1 mile tunnel with natural light via holes in the cliff side. We reach the park and it's the most crowded one that we have been to in this trip. The scenic route was closed for private vehicles - only park shuttles were allowed - and to their credit there were a number of them. It took us thirty minutes to find a parking spot - and the parking lot is bigger than the one in Yosemite. We took a shuttle ride (40 minutes each way with nine stops) - hop in and hop off at any stop. We spent about four hours in the park taking pictures, etc. and returned to Kanab.
Tomorrow, we bid adieu to the National Parks in Utah and start the drive towards South Dakota to see the Mt. Rushmore National Memorial, before heading south to Florida.
