St. George - Utah's fastest growing city. And it's visible everywhere - new construction, new outlet and strip malls, new restaurants, etc. It's a beautiful city just south of the fascinating rock formations and mountains of the Red Cliff's National Conservation Area, which can be seen from the city.
Because it was getting tough to book places to stay on short notice, as it was still season, I bent my rule of booking every night's booking at breakfast time - will revert to that once we are out of the National Parks. So I had booked accommodations for all the places, little realizing that St. George would have been a good place to spend a couple of days exploring. Oh Well!
After the (now) traditional topping up fuel at Costco (probably for the last time in Utah), we headed out North on I15. Today once we get off I15, our route is all internal Utah State/County and National Park roads. About an hour north on I15 (speed limit is 80mph!) comes the little town of Parowan, where we took UT143 East. UT143 is a Utah designated scenic byway and is called "Patchwork Parkway". We then took the UT148 branch to go to the Cedar Breaks National Monument and view the awe inspiring sights. Breathtaking! The pictures just do not do enough justice. Back to UT143 and on towards Panguitch Lake where we stop for lunch. After lunch it's onward to our night halt in Panguitch.
Dinner at a lovely place called Tandoori Taquera - Indian-Mexican fusion.
